Curtain Up has been established to provide children from the age of 6 to 16 years old the opportunity to spend three hours training in dance, drama and singing. This is mainly performance based and culminates at the end of every term in a presentation.
The current government initiative for Key Stage 3 is to incorporate as much drama as possible into all subjects. It has been proven that the performing arts when used in this way help the childrens cognitive learning ability and enables them to improve their ability to draw and remember information from text in any subject.
We believe that drama and the performing arts allow children to explore their emotions and therefore to express themselves without the constraints of a normal classroom. Performing arts help to improve vocal capability and therefore public speaking, the performances help to increase confidence and self esteem and the lessons allow the children to improve their concentration and use their imaginations which are so often squashed by our ever advancing computer age. All this helps provide some excellent tools for adult life and create well balanced and confident individuals.
What else are we offering?
