I’m Alex Puia, a Principal Software Engineer and Fractional Tech Lead with 12+ years’ experience building technology platforms across software, fintech and defence. I work with founders and growing businesses to turn technology challenges and ideas into practical, scalable solutions.

Whether you’re developing a new digital product, trying to modernise an existing system, considering AI, or simply need someone experienced to help you make the right technical decisions, I can provide senior technical expertise on a flexible, fractional basis.

My work includes:• Technical strategy and roadmapping• Architecture and technology decisions• Digital product and MVP development• AI and GenAI adoption• Integrating systems and APIs• Cloud and platform architecture• Reviewing existing technology and development teams• Helping businesses choose the right technology partners• Technical leadership and mentoring

I particularly enjoy working with businesses that have reached the point where technology is becoming increasingly important to their growth, but don’t yet need — or want — a full-time CTO or technical team.

Based in the Chew Valley/Bristol area, I’m happy to work with local businesses as well as clients further afield. If you have a technology challenge, an idea you’re not sure how to build, or simply want an experienced technical perspective, I’d be happy to have an informal conversation.
