FRESH MEMBERSHIP CAMPAIGN

Chew Valley Chamber of Commerce is to embark on a campaign to raise its profile as the voice of business for the area.

Existing members are being encouraged to bring a friend to the next quarterly meeting and new marketing material is being prepared.

President Jim King told members at the Annual General Meeting that 2006 had been an active year, but he expected 2007 to be even busier and he hoped more members could be attracted.

“We have been involved in a number of important issues, such as traffic, parking and the expansion of the airport. We’ve also arranged a number of social events giving members the chance to mix business with pleasure,” said Mr King, who later won an informal game of skittles. (picture attached)

Membership levels have hovered around the 100 mark, but it’s thought there are many more businesses in the valley who could benefit from joining the Chamber, which is affiliated to the sub-regional organisation, Business West.

“Now that many people are working from small units in rural areas as well as from their own homes, there has been a huge increase in the number of companies operating in the Valley. We’d like them to come and join us, improve their businesses, increase their representation, and have some fun into the bargain,” added Mr King.
