Mixing business with pleasure

I have previously mentioned how being a part of the Chew Valley Chamber of commerce means you can enjoy socialising, whilst also learning about local businesses and we’ve recently had a great example of that with a visit to the Limeburn Hill Vineyard.

Robin and Georgina showed us around their very special vineyard, run on Biodynamic principles, which encourages the full expression of the spirit of the land in the fruit they grow without chemicals of any kind. We very much enjoyed being able to sample the results of their labours along with sumptuous cheeses and charcuterie.

But apart from learning a lot about the process of wine making, it gave members a chance to chat about their own activities in an informal atmosphere, learning more about other sectors and developing friendships which underpin so much of how business is done, especially in a rural community such as ours.

It was also an opportunity for me to reflect once again on the amazing variety of businesses we have within our membership, from retail, communications, printing, technology, publications and professional services – all represented on the night. There are so many others, who weren’t able to join us on that occasion, but who play a vital part in supporting the Chamber. In fact, if you look through the full list of members on our website: www.chewvalleychamber.co.uk there really aren’t too many goods or services that are not available locally.

Finally, I am pleased to report we continue to gather in more members, who we are always delighted to welcome, to become part of a thriving group of local businesses who work hard to create a successful local economy for the benefit of the whole community.
